إردوغان.. المعارضة قدمت وثائق تدين إمام أوغلو في قضايا فساد
قال الرئيس التركي رجب طيب إردوغان، في تصريحات له يوم الأربعاء، إن شخصيات من المعارضة قدمت وثائق ومعلومات تشير إلى وجود تورط لرئيس بلدية إسطنبول المعتقل، أكرم إمام أوغلو، في قضايا فساد.
وأضاف إردوغان، في كلمته أمام البرلمان، أن تصريحات إمام أوغلو الأخيرة، التي أطلقها الأسبوع الماضي، تكشف عن أنه “غير لائق” لشغل منصب رئيس بلدية إسطنبول، معتبرًا أن هذا الأمر يعد دليلاً على عدم أهليته للمنصب.
وكان اعتقال إمام أوغلو، الذي يُعتبر أبرز منافس سياسي للرئيس إردوغان، قد أثار موجة من الاحتجاجات العارمة في تركيا يوم الأربعاء الماضي، وهي الاحتجاجات الأكبر التي تشهدها البلاد منذ أكثر من عشر سنوات.
وفي يوم الأحد الماضي، قضت محكمة تركية بحبس إمام أوغلو على ذمة المحاكمة بتهم فساد ينفيها بشدة. ورغم حظر التجمعات في شوارع العديد من المدن التركية، خرجت مظاهرات حاشدة مناهضة للحكومة، بمشاركة مئات الآلاف من المواطنين، الذين استجابوا لدعوة حزب الشعب الجمهوري للنزول إلى الشوارع في أنحاء البلاد.
في السياق نفسه، قال إردوغان، عقب اجتماع لمجلس الوزراء في أنقرة يوم الإثنين، إن حزب الشعب الجمهوري يجب أن يتوقف عن “تحريض” المواطنين ضد الحكومة. وأكد أن “استعراضهم” سينتهي في نهاية المطاف، وأنهم سيشعرون بالخجل من الأضرار التي ألحقوها ببلدهم.
من جانبهم، وصف حزب الشعب الجمهوري اعتقال إمام أوغلو بأنه “مسيس” ويتناقض مع مبادئ الديمقراطية، مؤكدين أن هذه الإجراءات تستهدف القضاء على المعارضين السياسيين. ومع ذلك، تنفي الحكومة التركية هذه الاتهامات، مشددة على استقلالية القضاء التركي.
Erdogan: Opposition Presents Documents That Incriminate Imamoglu in Corruption Cases
On Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that opposition figures had submitted documents and information related to corruption charges against Istanbul's detained mayor, Ekrem Imamoglu.
In a speech before the parliament, Erdogan argued that Imamoglu's statements from last week revealed that he was “unfit” to hold his position as mayor of Istanbul, highlighting that this was evidence of his unworthiness for the office.
The arrest of Imamoglu, one of Erdogan's most prominent political rivals, sparked the largest protests in Turkey in over a decade last Wednesday.
On Sunday, a Turkish court ordered Imamoglu's detention pending trial on corruption charges, which he strongly denies. Despite a ban on gatherings in many cities, massive protests erupted across the country, with hundreds of thousands of people joining in after the Republican People's Party (CHP) called on citizens to take to the streets nationwide.
Following a Cabinet meeting in Ankara on Monday, Erdogan urged the CHP to stop “inciting” citizens against the government. He also stated that the “show” will eventually end, and they will feel ashamed of the damage they have caused to their country.
The CHP has described Imamoglu's arrest as “politically motivated” and inconsistent with democratic principles. However, the Turkish government has denied these allegations, stressing the independence of the judiciary.
