ورغم توجيه الجيش اللبناني نداء إلى الجانب السوري عبر قواته المنتشرة في البقاع، مؤكدًا أن الجثث الثلاث كانت داخل الأراضي السورية وأن لا علاقة لحزب الله بالحادثة، إلا أن الفصائل المسلحة استمرت في قصف القرى اللبنانية القريبة عبر المدفعية والصواريخ، ما أسفر عن سقوط ضحايا في صفوف المدنيين، إضافة إلى تسجيل حالات نزوح كبيرة من القرى المستهدفة باتجاه مدينة الهرمل.

Questions are rising about the Lebanese-Syrian border file as external pressures intensify, particularly with a clear push led by foreign entities, under U.S. guidance, to bring about a significant shift on the border. This is especially concerning for areas under the influence of Hezbollah.
In this context, Syria’s new leadership has heightened threats against Hezbollah, following several security incidents, most of which involve smugglers on both sides of the border. After accusing Hezbollah of supporting groups that led an armed rebellion in the coastal areas, Hezbollah was blamed for the spreading chaos on the Lebanese-Syrian border, with the most recent incident occurring yesterday when three Syrian gang members infiltrated Lebanon and engaged in a shootout with shepherds tending to their flocks on the border near the town of Al-Qasr in the northern Beqaa region.
Simultaneously, Saudi media have been promoting reports of Syrian military build-up along the border, and Syria’s Ministry of Defense issued a statement claiming that a Hezbollah group abducted three Syrian soldiers near Zita Dam west of Homs, only to take them across the Lebanese border and execute them. The Syrian Defense Ministry vowed to take necessary measures after this “dangerous escalation” by Hezbollah.
In response, Hezbollah’s media relations categorically denied any involvement in the events on the Lebanese-Syrian border, reiterating its longstanding position that it has no connection to incidents taking place on Syrian soil.
Despite communication between the Lebanese Army leadership in the Beqaa region and Syrian officials, confirming that the bodies of the three soldiers were found within Syrian territory and that the gunmen had no links to Hezbollah, armed factions on the Syrian side continued to launch artillery shells and rockets at Lebanese towns, particularly in the areas of Al-Mashrafa, Mizra’ah Bayt al-Tashm, and surrounding villages, leading to civilian casualties and displacement. A child was martyred and four others injured in these attacks, and several families fled the targeted areas towards Hermel.
Later in the day, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced the dispatch of military convoys to the border with Lebanon. According to field sources, the Lebanese Army informed the Syrian side that no armed group is allowed to cross into Lebanon, extending the order beyond the Hermel region to the northern border areas near Akkar.
Sources in Damascus suggested that the situation was tense, with some elements within Syria’s new leadership reportedly eager to create a confrontation with Lebanon through Hezbollah, as part of an internal political strategy to tighten control in light of escalating domestic security issues and widespread instability.
