عون يستقبل وفدًا من الكونغرس… ورفضٌ لدور “حزب الله الأمني”!
استقبل رئيس الجمهورية اللبناني العماد جوزاف عون، اليوم السبت، وفدًا من الكونغرس الأميركي برئاسة النائب الجمهوري روني جاكسون، وذلك بحضور السفيرة الأميركية في لبنان، ليزا جونسون. اللقاء الذي جرى في قصر بعبدا كان فرصة لمناقشة العديد من الملفات المهمة التي تخص لبنان والمنطقة، حيث أكّد جاكسون خلال اللقاء رغبة الولايات المتحدة في تحقيق مرحلة جديدة من السلام والاستقرار في لبنان والمنطقة ككل، في ظل التغيرات التي تشهدها.
رفض أمريكي لدور “حزب الله” الأمني
وقد صرّح النائب روني جاكسون بعد لقائه الرئيس عون قائلاً: “نريد أن نلمس مرحلة جديدة من السلام والاستقرار في لبنان والشرق الأوسط، في ظل التغيّرات الكثيرة التي تشهدها المنطقة”. وأضاف “نريد أن يكون الأمن في لبنان حصراً بيد الجيش اللبناني، ونرفض أن يلعب حزب الله هذا الدور، فمسؤولية الجيش وحده هي ضمان أمن الحدود اللبنانية”. هذا التصريح جاء ليؤكد على رغبة الولايات المتحدة في فصل الأدوار الأمنية عن جماعات غير حكومية، وعلى رأسها حزب الله، في الوقت الذي تسعى فيه واشنطن إلى تعزيز الدعم للقوى العسكرية الرسمية في لبنان.
دعوة لضغوط على إسرائيل
في نفس السياق، أشارت رئاسة الجمهورية اللبنانية إلى أن الرئيس عون قد طلب من وفد الكونغرس أن تمارس واشنطن ضغوطًا على إسرائيل لاستكمال انسحابها من النقاط الخمس التي لا تزال محتلة في جنوب لبنان، وذلك تنفيذًا للقرار 1701 الصادر عن الأمم المتحدة. كما جدد عون دعوته للولايات المتحدة لمواصلة دعم الجيش اللبناني، مؤكدًا على أهمية هذه العلاقة في الحفاظ على استقرار لبنان الأمني.
التحديات الأمنية والاقتصادية في لبنان
وكان لقاء أمس الجمعة مع السيناتور داريل عيسى، رئيس الوفد الآخر من الكونغرس الأميركي، قد تناول العديد من الملفات الساخنة، بما في ذلك التحديات الأمنية في لبنان، وتطبيق القرار 1701، وأهمية عودة الاستثمارات إلى لبنان في ظل الظروف الحالية. وناقش الوفد أيضًا تطورات العلاقة بين لبنان وسوريا في إطار التطورات الإقليمية.
من جانب آخر، صرّح السيناتور داريل عيسى قائلاً: “لا توجّه أميركي حاليًا نحو فرض عقوبات على شخصيات لبنانية طالما أن الدولة اللبنانية ملتزمة بالمسار الذي تسير فيه”. هذا التصريح جاء ليؤكد أن السياسة الأميركية الحالية لن تشمل عقوبات جديدة على الشخصيات اللبنانية في حال استمرار الدولة اللبنانية في المسار الذي تبنته.

Aoun Receives a U.S. Congressional Delegation… Rejecting Hezbollah's Security Role!
On Saturday, Lebanese President Michel Aoun welcomed a delegation from the U.S. Congress, led by Republican Congressman Ronny Jackson, with the presence of the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson. The meeting, held at the Presidential Palace in Baabda, provided an opportunity to discuss several key issues concerning Lebanon and the region. Jackson emphasized the United States' desire to usher in a new phase of peace and stability in Lebanon and the Middle East, in light of the ongoing changes in the region.
U.S. Rejection of Hezbollah’s Security Role
Following the meeting, Congressman Ronny Jackson stated: “We want to see a new phase of peace and stability in Lebanon and the Middle East, amid the many changes taking place in the region.” He added, “We want security in Lebanon to be exclusively in the hands of the Lebanese army, and we reject Hezbollah playing this role. The responsibility for securing the borders lies solely with the Lebanese army.” This statement reaffirms the U.S. position of seeking to separate security roles from non-governmental organizations, especially Hezbollah, while aiming to strengthen support for Lebanon's official military forces.
Call for Pressure on Israel
In the same context, the Lebanese Presidency pointed out that President Aoun urged the U.S. Congressional delegation to exert pressure on Israel to complete its withdrawal from the five remaining occupied points in southern Lebanon, in accordance with UN Resolution 1701. Aoun also reiterated his call for continued U.S. support for the Lebanese Army, emphasizing the importance of this relationship in maintaining Lebanon's security and stability.
Lebanon’s Security and Economic Challenges
The meeting on Friday with Senator Darrell Issa, head of another U.S. Congressional delegation, also touched on various critical issues, including Lebanon's security challenges, the implementation of UN Resolution 1701, and the importance of revitalizing investments in Lebanon amid the current conditions. The delegation also discussed the evolving relationship between Lebanon and Syria, in light of regional developments.
On the other hand, Senator Darrell Issa stated: “There is currently no U.S. move towards imposing sanctions on Lebanese figures, as long as the Lebanese state remains committed to the path it is following.” This statement affirms that the current U.S. policy will not include new sanctions on Lebanese figures if Lebanon continues its current course.
International Focus Moving Forward
These meetings are expected to be a turning point in the relationship between Lebanon and the United States, especially given the internal and external challenges Lebanon faces, both security-wise and economically.
