I. INTRODUCTION
The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014 that aims to expand, manage, and protect Lebanon’s forests and landscapes through a community-based approach. We work on building resilient communities to environmental threats, increasing environmental awareness and education, advocating for forest conservation, and advancing research in the forestry field.
LRI is currently implementing the “Supporting internally displaced persons and hosting communities through cash for work activities in the tyr district” project with UNDP in Tyr, Abbasiyeh and Burj el Chemaly.
II. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Field officer at the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is responsible for the management of the activities in the field based on the approved project workplan, LRI policies and UNDP regulations. S/he is expected to apply CFW principles and procedures agreed upon between LRI and UNDP and represent LRI properly at all times, based on LRI’s Code of Conduct, provide accurate and timely information to LRI project coordinator and manager and keep good communication with the municipalities and local stakeholders.
The Field Officer is expected to perform the following duties:
- Be present to launch the work at each work location.
- Ensure all workers sign the UNDP attendance sheets at the beginning, during breaks and at the end of work.
- Ensure all workers follow the work regulations of the project.
- Ensure all workers are treated fairly.
- Ensure worker safety regulations are enforced on site.
- Monitor that the work is implemented as per the workplan
- Take daily pictures of the sites before and after and maps of work locations daily and report them to the project coordinator.
- Ensure proper technical practices in pruning, planting and similar activities.
- Communicate with the municipalities and local authorities or other public administrative organization to maintain positive collaborations.
- Communicate with the hired workers, all instructions and major decision sent by LRI team.
- Support in any project-related activities on site or in the office.
III. REQUIREMENTS
The Field Officer should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:
- Good academic and proven practical knowledge in the field of community mobilization, coordination of community activities, social work, forestry or any related field.
- At least 2-3 years of relevant experience working in the field.
- Experience in field, data collection.
- Familiar with international donors’ projects.
- Flexible.
- Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skills.
- Professionalism and ethical behavior.
- Driving license and personal car is a must
- Preferably residing in or near one of the project locations
