Duty station : Akkar and Tripoli office, with regular visits to INTERSOS T5 and Akkar areas of operation

Job Purpose
The Security Assistant is responsible for maintaining security on the ground, ensuring the safety and security of designated properties, assets, personnel, and visitors. Under direct supervision of the Programs and Operations Manager he/she will assure the security systems and procedures are effective and functional and will duly and timely report any concerns and exchange on security and safety related matters.
He/she will provide advice to the Programs and Operations Manager on security issues in the areas of operation, ensuring that needed safety and security assessments and information gathering are conducted regularly.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identifying and developing functional contacts and relationships with key stakeholders (i.e., local authorities, security actors, political representatives, etc.).
Identifying reliable sources of information in the areas of intervention.
Coordinate with other NGOs to identify mutual areas of intervention, while consulting on issues of mutual interest and suggesting options to address such issues.
Carrying out security check-ups and clearances for expatriate/international and national staff prior to their movements to the field
Ensuring information sharing with regard to general and specific security and safety aspects for the national team via WhatsApp group, SMS and phone call
Provide regular and ad-hoc feedback on safety and security to the Programs and Operations Manager on security ensuring prompt and clear communication on identified problems
Maintain good and efficient relationships with local and regional security and safety stakeholders (e.g., ISF, civil police, municipal police and LAF, etc.)
Contributing to the provision of sound analysis of the security, political social and economic environment INTERSOS is operating in
Ensuring clear and broad communication of security guidelines, rules, regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), etc
Compile and submit bi-weekly reports that track incidents and trends in humanitarian access and local security contexts within the INTERSOS’s T5 and Akkar area of operation
Organizing regular security meetings with T5 and Akkar staff to ensure safety in the implementation of activities.
Conduct security briefings for field missions and new staff members, as required
Planning and facilitating security training for national staff as needed.
Providing support and guidance to the Programs and Operations Manager in dealing with staff conflicts that arises with external parties and/or security members, and setting meetings and actions as per procedures.
Maintains database records and hardcopy files used to track safety and security data
Perform other related duties upon request to support the Head of Base
Education
- Bachelor degree or equivalent.
Competencies: (knowledge, skills and abilities)
Professional competencies:
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in the security field.
Experience of incident reporting, incident mapping, intelligence collation and analysis functions, compilation of security reports and assessments.
Previous experience with NGO is a preference.
Good understanding of the humanitarian context.
MS proficiency (i.e., Internet, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Driving License valid since more than 2 years.
