ABOUT ABAAD
ABAAD– Resource Center for Gender Equality is a UN ECOSOC accredited organization that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD advocates for the development and implementation of policies and laws that enhance women’s effective participation, through a rights-based approach that would bring about tangible change to gender justice. With the purpose of ending gender-based violence, ABAAD adopts a holistic care approach to provide protection and support services to GBV survivors/right holders during times of peace, war and disasters since 2011.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Generation Gender is a five-year program that aims at positively influencing public opinion, laws and policies towards gender justice, as well as strengthening civil society to advocate for violence-free societies all the while combatting GBV and inequality. More specifically, the program at hand relies on an innovative and inclusive gender-transformative strategy that equips youth leaders and civil society organizations (CSOs) to address the root causes of gender inequality and foster sustainable change. Its goal is to raise public support, advocate for improved policies and laws, and strengthen civil society.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The program coordinator will be required to report to the organization’s Head of Programs and fulfill the below duties:
- Represent the organization within the international consortium and coordinating with global partners;
- Effectively and regularly liaise with the donor;
- Represent the program at annual global meetings;
- Coordinate the local partnerships portfolio linked to the program (including other CSOs and public sector stakeholders);
- Design the program’s annual plan and budget -both at consortium and country level;
- Develop the program’s annual procurement, spending, and communication plans;
- Produce the program’s semi-annual and annual narrative reports;
- Support the M&E department in developing qualitative monitoring and evaluation tools aimed at assessing the program’s impact;
- Coordinate with support units including the finance, procurement, accountability, M&E, and capacity building departments;
- Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
- Identify external technical expertise required for the implementation of the program, developing corresponding ToRs, and providing supporting with contracting;
- Oversee the effective roll-out and implementation of programmatic activities;
- Provide quality assurance by shadowing program activities through regular field visits;
- Manage the assigned program officer and relevant field staff.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Applicant is required to have a BA or MA in anthropology, social sciences, NGO management, or other related fields;
- Applicant is required to have 5+ of professional experience in project management;
- Applicant must have experience managing advocacy programming;
- Applicant must have experience working in the development sector –particularly engaging with local communities and youth is desirable;
- Applicant must have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the local context in Lebanon;
- Applicant must have excellent problem-solving skills;
- Applicant must possess excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English.
