GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

Under the management of the Project Officer, the Project Assistant contributes to the timely and quality implementation of la Chaîne de l’Espoir’s activities. 

Founded in 1994, La Chaîne de l’Espoir (CDE) is an international NGO headquartered in Paris, France. Its mission is to strengthen healthcare systems and provide everyone, especially children, equal chances and opportunities for survival and development.  

CDE is currently active in twenty-seven (27) countries with a global approach, mainly focusing on children, mothers and disadvantaged communities. Find our activities briefly elaborated as follows: 

* Prevention and screening from an early age, particularly through school health programs. 

* Care and surgery to meet the most urgent needs of children and their mothers. 

* Training and transfer of skills to local teams (capacity building) thanks to our international network of experts in all areas of surgery. 

* Construction and equipment of hospital facilities adapted to local needs. 

CDE has been implementing humanitarian activities in Lebanon since 2005, working through local partners to provide access to medico-surgical care to children suffering from cardiopathies and orthopedics disabilities. Late 2020, CDE eventually opened its mission in Lebanon to respond to growing needs due to the significant deterioration of the situation. Since then, CDE is implementing projects related to the tertiary healthcare, including several aspects such as the strengthening of the healthcare system, early detection of congenital orthopedics disorders, psychosocial support, etc. – via direct and indirect (through local partners) implementation. 

Within the frame of its program development in Lebanon, la Chaîne de l’Espoir is looking for a Project Assistant.  

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

Under the management of the Project Officer, the Project Assistant contributes to ensuring sound implementation of la Chaîne de l’Espoir’s activities in Lebanon. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Project cycle management 

Responsible for designing the large-scale awareness campaign’s plan (location, distribution of tasks, timeline, etc.); 

In charge of operationalizing the awareness campaign’s plan: identification of Outreach Volunteers (OVs), liaise with the local community, prepare the educational material, etc.  

Responsible for the implementation of awareness campaigns in close collaboration with the staff involved, especially the medical team; 

Contributes to an effective activities follow-up, in line with the projects’ objectives; 

Contributes to the revision and creation of the tools necessary to ensure quality project implementation (detailed implementation plan, standard operating procedures, etc). 

Regularly documents and communicates challenges, lessons learnt and best practices; 

Pro-actively proposes to the Project Officer any adjustment of the project whenever needed (change of circumstances, delay in the implementation, adaptation of tools, etc.). 

Information management, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) 

Supports the Project Officer with the monitoring aspect of the projects (regular update of the detailed implementation plan, beneficiaries counting, etc.); 

Updates the awareness activity trackers and database on a regular basis in collaboration with MEAL department.; 

Supports the Project Officer with the learning aspect of the project.  

Partnership and networking

Acts as a focal point of coordination with communities and local partners; 

Acts as a team leader for local partners’ community outreach workers during campaigns; 

Coordinates closely with medical team and local partners for setting up awareness sessions and trainings; 

Develops and maintains relationships with relevant field stakeholders. 

Reporting 

Contributes to identifying and sharing positive and success stories; 

Contributes to the monthly reports on project achievements to the Project Officer. 

Management 

Manages the Outreach workers during campaigns;  

Sets-up and follows-up action plans where necessary; 

Performs all the necessary administrative tasks required by the line manager; 

Any other tasks as requested by the Project Officer. 

TEAM RELATIONSHIP 

Line and technical manager: Project Officer  

Line and technical reports: Outreach workers 

Close collaboration with: Medical Team, MEAL department  

PROFILE 

 

Professional training 

Bachelor’s degree in humanitarian project cycle management or any similar field [required] 

Paramedical training related to mental health, orthopedic pediatric is a plus. 

Working experience 

At least 2 years of experience with similar responsibilities(required) 

Experience within the humanitarian sector [required] Experience within the health sector is a plus 

Experience in gender and/or protection-related topics is a plus 

Specific skills 

Strong commands of Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) [required]  

Previous experience in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data [required] 

Strong organizational skills and capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at the time [required] 

Strong management skills [required] 

Excellent writing and communication skills [required] 

Detail oriented (required) 

Capacity to travel in CDE’s projects’ implementation areas of Lebanon [required] 

Knowledge of software such as Kobo or ODK is a plus 

Languages 

Fluent in Arabic and English (speaking, writing, reading) [required] Knowledge of French is a plus
