Job Title : Senior Case Worker

Position Type : Full Time
Job Purpose:
The Senior Case Worker is responsible for supervising and managing a team of Case Workers, ensuring that principles of case management are respected, that cases are appropriately documented in line with protection standards and that quality services are guaranteed to persons with protection concerns.
Support and coach Case Workers throughout the case management process and directly handle complex vulnerable cases as needed.
Support positive team dynamics providing support and space for caseworkers to express emotions and experiences within the case management team
Generic Duties:
- Support the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the case management activities, as well as ensuring the well-being and positive working environment for all members of the team.
- Supervise, support and coach Case Workers in their duties using various methods such as observation, shadowing, case file checks and bilateral case discussions and support the team in finding solutions and appropriate responses to daily challenges
- Act as referral focal point, including answering the help line for INTERSOS case management in the geographical area of coverage and distribute the cases between the Case Workers according to the level of experience, complexity of case and in line with minimum standards on caseload. Ensure equal division of workload, timely follow up of target and flag issues of overload of caseworkers to Protection Officer ensuring proper handover between the caseworkers if needed
- Ensure cooperation amongst all program activities as well as close coordination with other Senior case workers from other projects.
- Monitor timescales for response, decision-making and follow-up through internal case management platform and according to priority of case ensuring timely and appropriate support
- Supervise the accuracy of the cases documentation through regular review of files and case management platform and provide feedback to Case Workers. Overview the proper filing and archiving of case management files to ensure confidentiality and data protection protocols are upheld
- In compliance with INTERSOS SOPs, review assessments conducted by case workers for cash assistance and ensure accurate and complete documentation is provided to the review committee for approval
- Schedule and facilitate regular case management meetings with Case Workers to discuss single cases and challenges and organize and participate case conferencing on complex cases when required
- Ensure adherence of Case Workers to protection principles, Codes of Conduct and internal SoPs. Conduct regular case audits to ensure that cases meet and maintain compliance with established SoPs and minimum standards in case management
- Participate in the recruitment of projects staff and provide objective feedback with regards to staff performance (evaluate performance and delivery against job descriptions), expectations and areas for growth and professional development.
- Oversee and implement assessment and monitoring tools, maintain updated case tracking and ensure the efficient and accurate reporting for programme management, donor reporting and for the GBVIMS system.
- Identify staff gaps and training needs and provide responsive action/inform the Protection Officer for actions needed
- Identify and analyze protection trends in the overall caseload and security and changes of environment in the field to inform protection programming
- Meet regularly with Protection Officer to discuss about ongoing issues and strategy for the team
- Contribute to regular service mapping and update of service directory
- Participate in external meetings, including coordination working groups when requested, and ensure good relationships and coordination with the main service providers in the area of intervention
- Accomplish any other tasks as required for the project’s implementation
Education:
- University Degree in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent.
