Assignments and functions:

The Community Engagement Officer will follow up on the daily implementation of the community engagement activities in private and private free schools according to the workplan and priorities set with the Project Manager. In addition, s/he will ensure proper coordination with AVSI Education, Inclusion, Child protection and MEAL departments, school directors and other stakeholders. The Community Engagement Officer will oversee the daily follow up of the project’s activities in the schools, and will ensure the proper implementation of the community engagement plan set at the beginning of the project. He/she will lead on the implementation of community engagement activities and will make sure to create smooth and strong communication channels between the school staff (school focal points, school CP focal points, classroom observers, inclusion focal points) and the AVSI technical staff (technical education officer, child protection specialist, equity and inclusion specialist). Each Community Engagement Officer will be responsible of around 8 schools.

I- Organization, Planning and Reporting

–              Closely work with the Project manager to prepare detailed workplan and forecast the resources needed for the project implementation in the assigned areas.

–              Develop and implement a comprehensive Community Engagement plan in collaboration with 15 trained volunteers, focusing on Extra Curricular Activities (ECA), school clubs, caregivers’ engagement activities, and the creation of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs).

–              Oversee the outreach activities on field and the registration activities in the targeted schools

–              Coordinate with AVSI MEAL department to ensure the correct functioning of data collection and CLM reporting as per the set targets and deadlines.

–              Provide reports on regular basis in order to follow up on the activities of the project highlighting the progress, the challenges, and the proposed solutions to supervisors.

–              Coordinate with school directors on regular basis for effective implementation.

–              Oversee and support the dedicated follow-up on all project activities in the field.

–              Coordinate with identified stakeholders to facilitate access and disseminate information on available services.

II- Technical Component

–              Ensure that the activities implemented are carried out in compliance with the donors’ rules and selection criteria

–              Continuously monitor the quality of the activities in the schools and provide feedback to the technical education officer

–              Ensure continuous follow up and support to school directors for the overall implementation of the program within the agreement.

–              Establish and maintain positive and supportive communication with school directors and school staff

–              Coordinate with the World learning to support in the logistical preparation for teachers technical training

–              Facilitate and observe the inclusion of children with disabilities and to provide feedback to the Equity and Inclusion specialist

III- Child Protection

–              Ensure that all personnel’s working with the schools and service providers are respecting the conditions of AVSI Child Protection policy on which they have been trained.

–              Support and facilitate the delivery of training to school staff, teachers and volunteers.

–              In coordination with the CP team, to refer/report any potential Child Protection abuse cases

–              Facilitate the delivery of awareness sessions with caregivers in the schools in collaboration with the school and CP focal points

–              Conduct orientation sessions for school staff and teachers at the beginning of the program and provide continuous communication and feedback

IV- Use of the project’s resources

–              Ensure that the program is carried out in compliance with donor’s and AVSI’s administrative procedures.

V-Others

–              Participate actively in all mandatory trainings provided by UNICEF

–              Oversee the Monthly school meeting with the school staff with a clear agenda and feedback to be shared with the AVSI technical teams.

–              In collaboration with the Communication department ensure quality material is available for visibility and communication purpose

–      Perform other duties within areas of responsibility as requested by the supervisor
