In response to the influx of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the IRC operates a Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) program implemented in various locations in the Northern and Beka’a Governorates. The WPE Case Worker is a key position in the WPE program, ensuring the provision of comprehensive and appropriate case management and psychosocial support services are available to vulnerable women and girls, including survivors of gender-based violence (GBV),
Job Overview/Summary
The WPE Case Worker provides direct support and case management to vulnerable women and girls as part of the WPE team in various locations in the Akkar Governate including:
- Case management services located in Women and Girls’ Community Centers or community-based safe spaces.
- Emotional support groups in Women and Girls’ Community Centers and/or community-based safe spaces.
- Psychosocial activities in Women and Girls’ Community Centers and/or community-based safe spaces.
Major Responsibilities: Provide direct support and care to vulnerable women and girls through center-based, and community-based activities.
Provide direct support and care for vulnerable women and girls (including survivors of gender-based violence), including psychosocial support and case management. Case management services include:
- Basic counseling and psychosocial support.
- Assessment of needs and resources.
- Developing safety and action plan.
- Implementing the plan.
- Appropriate follow-up and referrals.
- Case closure (if and when appropriate).
Provide direct age-appropriate and specialized support and care for vulnerable adolescent and girl children (including survivors of GBV), including counseling and case management.
- Case management services for survivors under the age of 18 will include the above steps of case management along with:
- Age appropriate engagement and decision-making by survivors.
- Do No Harm analysis.
Organize, facilitate, and monitor psychosocial activities, including emotional support groups at the WGCC and in community-based safe spaces.
- Mobilize and register participants.
- Facilitate structured group sessions using available guidance.
- Create support group plan.
- Facilitate mid-point and final group evaluations for monitoring and reporting.
Monitoring & Reporting .
- Support the maintenance of the IRC’s case management system and the GBV Information Management System.
- Complete the case management quality assessment tool on monthly basis.
- Support tracking of WGCC and mobile activities’ beneficiaries using agreed M&E tools.
- Participate in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality case management, and reporting requirements are followed.

Job Requirements:
- Holder of a degree in one of the specialties according to the following approved designations by the Syndicate of Social Workers in Lebanon: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work; Bachelor's Degree in Social Work option Social Service; Bachelor in Arts Degree Social Work major; Bachelor's Degree in Medical-Social Supervision; Bachelor's Degree in Medical Social Work:
- At least six months of counseling experience with issues relating to violence against women and girls, gender and development, child protection or social change
- Clear understanding of gender inequality, and issues surrounding violence against women and girls.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times essential.
- Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work overtime when necessary and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a member of a team essential.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and good English.
Working Environment: The position will be based in Qobayat Akkar with daily travel to program locations. Security clearance will be obtained on a daily basis.
