Objective of the Role:

The Outreach Officer provides support to the Project Team by gathering and analyzing information and data. H/She will conduct and interpret statistical analysis and will also be in charge of maintaining a system of identifying, tracking, recording, and adding input to the outreach criteria of the program when necessary. In consultation with senior staff, he/she will develop a strategy to meet the program’s targets.

She/he needs to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community-driven to take on this role. This position requires someone equipped with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain all community outreach activities, by representing Borderless and working with the management team to develop and implement initiatives that increase Borderless’ visibility within the surrounding community.

  • Design, develop and implement community outreach plan, strategies and tools that target vulnerable communities, schools, universities and among other organizations.
  • Identify potential beneficiaries, maintain records and facilitate communication and registration of beneficiaries for specific projects.
  • Conduct regular visits to stakeholders and establish relationships for referrals.
  • Conducting needs assessments, interviews and registration of beneficiaries, adhering to the set criteria established for the relevant projects.
  • Ensure beneficiaries are retained in the project, follow up on a regular basis and all beneficiaries’ concerns are reported, while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Manage data collection and coordination of activities including the development, implementation, and evaluation of all project aspects.
  • Design, develop, and implement procedures of methods for the creation of datasets for analysis and ensuring data quality and confidentiality.
  • Prepare data sharing for progress reports.

Competencies and Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and as a team player who demonstrates leadership and can work with disaster-affected communities in a sensitive and participatory manner.
  • Written and oral communication skills; able to communicate clearly and sensitively as a representative of Borderless. This includes effective negotiation and representation skills.
  • Works with trustworthiness and integrity and has a clear commitment to Borderless’ core values and humanitarian principles.
  • Ability to operate effectively under extreme circumstances including stress, high security risks, and harsh living conditions. Works in a flexible, adaptable, and resilient manner.
  • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity. Has experience and the ability to work in diverse cultural contexts appropriately.
  • Has the capacity to make accurate self-assessments, particularly in high-stress and high-security contexts.
  • Well-planned and organized even within a fluid working environment and has the capacity for initiative and decision-making with competent analytical and problem-solving skills.
