The Communications Consultant is responsible for overseeing the implementation of both internal and external communication strategies with different target audiences and the community. They promote the Association by creating a wide range of corporate communication material, managing external communication channels like social media platforms, writing copy for newsletters, grants, and other proposals, and representing the Association at events.
Duties and responsibilities
- Design a communication plan and strategy to advocate for and promote Ana Aqra including creative marketing campaigns, visibility events, and outreach activities.
- Support the Executive Director and the Board with communications services including presentation development, content generation (including the drafting of blog posts), and speechwriting.
- Plan, design and develop engaging and target specific communication and media materials such as videos, infographics, newsletters, project brochures, press releases, annual reports, and banners.
- Identify target audiences and create strategies to effectively engage them through proper channels.
- Coordinate with the programmatic teams on a regular basis to source content and success stories, and to collect and streamline inputs and feedback.
- Manage the Association’s social media channels and website by evaluating and adapting social media campaigns and strategies to reach desired outcomes, monitoring trends, suggesting clear engaging posts, promoting content, and growing web traffic based on a communication monthly plan.
- Contribute in writing grants proposals and calls for proposals and tenders, editing written content for internal reporting and reporting to project stakeholders, and coordinating with illustrators to produce engaging products and boost Ana Aqra visibility.
- Assist in organizing events, workshops, and meetings and develop related promotional materials, as well as documenting the events and activities.
- Establish, develop and maintain positive relationships with schools, centers, media, journalists, bloggers, investors and customer audiences.
- Act as the communication focal point with partners and other entities such as the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE), INGOs, and NGOs and represent at Ana Aqra at events as required.
- Manage relationships and logistical operations with service providers, including graphic design firms, printing houses, photographers, videographers, and others in coordination with the procurement department.
- Perform other related duties as required by the manager.
Educational Requirements and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in design, marketing, communications, journalism or other relevant discipline
- Arabic and English fluency required, with demonstrated excellent professional-level writing and editing skills in both languages
- Minimum two years’ experience in communications with NGOs working in the humanitarian or development field
- Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media and e-marketing programs
- Experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing
- Experience effectively communicating information and ideas in written and visual formats
- Website management and research experience
- Proficiency in MS Office required with graphic design and photo/video experience preferred
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, interpersonal, communications, and teamwork, and networking skills
- Able to work with minimal direction and supervision, independent and self-sufficient.
