Background:
The project intends to complement an existing mobile team named Mobile Protection Unit (MPU) of Amel, in partnership with SamuSocial International, in the regions of Beirut and its southern suburbs. The aim of those teams is fighting against the exclusion of people in street situations, i, by reaching out vulnerable people, to propose medico-social care. This project wants to strengthen the service offered by adding specialized interventions on gender-based violence (GBV), mental health, and awareness-raising on situations of exclusion.
The project is estimated to last until March 31, 2025.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Implementation of Activities
- Provide individual psychological support sessions to children, youth and adults at risk
- Refer cases to Amel and/or specialized mental health units
- Provide Emotional Support Group (ESG) sessions to GBV survivors in coordination with the GBV facilitator
- Identify and refer children, youths and adults in danger in the street using observation and listening techniques
- Support in the implementation of recreational activities with street-connected children
- Provide analysis and reflection on children’s behaviors; technical input on specific behaviors of children followed by the Mobile Protection Unit Communicate to the rest of the team on the reasons and the needs for urgent intervention
- Abide by a community- based & human rights-based approach in the implementation of evidence-based interventions
- Identification of children in danger in the street using observation and listening techniques.
- Organizing, in coordination with the other team members, psychological oriented activities (PSS, group therapy, etc.Reporting and coordination
- Report activities on technical data sheets
- Report individual information in the personal file
- Coordinate internally with the team members and Amel staff
- Coordinate with stakeholders, partners and other external services
- Participate in technical meetings for case study
- Participate in routine team meetings as daily briefing and weekly meeting
- Participate in sessions and meetings with other Amel staff and with partners staff
- Support in the development and implementation of activities (with external stakeholders and in internally at Amel)
Qualifications:
- Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of mental health in complex emergencies (IASC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, mhGAP…)
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge about the predictable stresses of humanitarian aid work and practice to manage them
- Excellent reporting skills
- Excellent Arabic skills, English is preferred, French is a plus
- Demonstrated ability for active listening, stress management and dealing with difficult scenarios
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office- especially Microsoft Word and Excel (Powerpoint is a plus)
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skill and communication skills
Education and Experience:
- An MA in clinical psychology
- License to practice is mandatory
- At least two years of working experience with people at risk within psychotherapy
- Previous experience in GBV and SRH
