Job Purpose :
The Livelihoods Project Manager is part of Basmeh & Zeitooneh (B&Z) Food Security and Livelihood Program. The project manager will be reporting to the Food Security and Livelihoods Program Manager and will be coordinating with the Head of Programs and the Food Security and Livelihood Technical Manager in addition to the other departments and units at Basmeh & Zeitooneh.
The Project Manager will support project participants and stakeholders involved with the project using recommended implementation approaches and methodologies. This position will facilitate participatory planning, implementation, and monitoring of project interventions in close collaboration with partners and stakeholders. The Project Manager will also coordinate with other partners from the project consortium.

The Project Manager will also coordinate with other partners from the project consortium.
Project Brief:
To address gaps related to access to basic needs, social stability, and cohesion amongst host and refugee communities and the lack of capacities in the agriculture sector, B&Z, and other partners have come together under a consortium to implement a livelihoods and peacebuilding project. Over 30 months, B&Z will be focusing on introducing innovative ways of building resilient livelihoods in the Akkar area, North Lebanon. This includes alleviating daily suffering and income shortages of the targeted households, providing immediate relief, building sustainable solutions, and creating an enabling environment that allows targeted groups to remain self-sufficient in their field of work, namely agriculture. The project will identify vulnerable families of agricultural workers and farmers and provide them with relevant skills training and financial support to improve their ability to adopt sustainable agriculture practices while meeting their immediate needs. The project will also identify market opportunities, areas of growth, and improvement that would allow the farmers to have improved market access and higher profit. The project will also aim to establish or empower existing producer groups (where relevant) to restore and improve business relationships and create cohesion among different community groups. Furthermore, the project will target business owners through the formation of a business council that implements initiatives every year enabling business environment and social stability.
The Livelihoods Project Manager shall be responsible for:
1. Project Cycle Management and Implementation:
- Develop a comprehensive detailed implementation plan, including tasks, responsibilities, timelines, and resources needed for each project phase.
- Ensure project implementation is on time, within target, and budget, that the project targets are well understood and achieved according to the implementation work plan, and to adapt the plan when required.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management strategies to mitigate potential project risks.
- Oversee all procurement needs in coordination with the B&Z procurement unit
- Draft timely periodic activity progress reports to the FSL Program manager
- Contribute to the selection of suitable curriculums for required training according to the participant's needs and monitor the training assuring quality.
- Assure quality updates of participants' database and follow-up.
2. Development and strengthening of partnerships with:
- Consortium partners
- Stakeholders from Lebanese public institutions: ministries, municipalities, chambers of commerce, etc.
- Local groups, cooperatives, farmers, etc.
3. Launching of activities:
- The Project manager will be supervising a 4 member team to launch and implement the following activities:
- Provide technical info sessions for selected participants that include key messages about the project
- Identify potential for growth and areas of improvement in the selected agriculture production sectors
- Lead on supporting producers/ cooperative groups of identified business sectors to access market information through assisted visits to markets, organizing fairs, linkages with different traders, mobile applications to share prices, and other activities
- Lead on supporting producers in identifying initiatives related to local agricultural processes development and improvement of the business environment
- Lead on support producers groups of identified business sectors in the implementation of initiatives
- Lead in training the producers on productive, profitable, and sustainable principles and techniques (financial literacy, marketing, good agricultural practices-GAP-, Good Manufacturing practices-GMP)
- Lead on the provision of members of producers groups with suitable assets to apply productive, profitable, and sustainable principles and techniques learned
- Lead the process of training female agriculture workers on non-conventional agriculture work (driving trucks, maintenance of agricultural machinery, stock keeping, etc.)
- Lead in promoting the role of women in non-conventional agriculture work
- Coordinate with relevant partners for the implementation of awareness sessions to ensure that enrolled individuals are aware of workplace safety hazards, decent work conditions, GBV, and PSEA.
- lead the development of a network of experts ready to provide extension services to producers in targeted value chains/sectors
4. Budget and financial management
- Manage the budget performance according to spending timelines and identify risks of over/underspending promptly.
- Responsible for generating budget plans including forecast and reallocation periodically and as per need.
- Ensure compliance to B&withand donors’ financial procedures on the project
- Keep daily track of the expenditures and available funds
- Coordinate and follow up with the B & Z finance unit.
- Regular updates of the estimated budget over the total duration of the project (30 months)
- Coordinate activities with consortium partners.
5. Human resources management:
- Recruitment, management, retention, and training of the project team: skills and knowledge transfer, capacity strengthening
- Team leadership and internal communication
- Providing technical support to all project staff members.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Identify training needs and organize capacity-building activities to enhance the team’s skills and knowledge.
- Create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect where team members strive to achieve excellence and grow as individuals and as a team according to B&Z culture.
6. Reporting and coordination:
- Develop communication material for internal and external audiences in collaboration with the B&Z Communications unit;
- Lead on and promptly produce quality internal and external reports that are coherent and accurate with high professional standards.
- Reporting directly regularly.
- Establish connections with local communities and key persons
- Coordinate with local actors and other education and protection actors during the Project implementation to avoid duplication of assistance
- Adhere to Basmeh & Zeitooneh’s Code of Conduct policy, understanding that all team members represent the organization both inside and outside the office and should act in ways that bring credit to the organization.
- Represent the organization in meetings, workshops, working groups, and conferences related to the project
- Participate in grant review and partner meetings.
- Update the consortium partners on B&Z project progress, and be the liaison between B&Z management and the consortium.
Knowledge, and skills:
- University degree in Agro-economy, agriculture engineering, or any other relevant field for the position.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar position.
- Fluent in Arabic, with excellent written and verbal English skills and excellent reporting skills;
- Good knowledge and understanding of the socio-economic context in Northern Lebanon Akkar area and Tripoli city and surroundings.
- Good interpersonal skills and external relations;
- Strong humanitarian motivation and understanding of international assistance.
- Experience in dealing with local and public stakeholders;
